In 1999 general cycling transport development plan was created. A part of the proposed cycling tracks is already in use:
Frydek-Mistek, through the city, total length 3.103 km, is marked on the sidewalks along the I/48 road. Because of the high traffic on the road (about 40 thousand vehicles / day) it was necessary to allocate part of the sidewalk for cyclists to increase the safety. Marked in 1996, surface repaired in 2006 and 2007.
Ostrava – Beskydy along the left bank of the Ostravice river from Sviadnov to Kuncicky u Basky. Built in 1999 and 2003.
Palkovicka – Olesna, total length 3.804 km, built in 2004, from the underpass at Palkovicka street along Kvapilova street to the dam of Olesna.
Frydek-Mistek – Stare Mesto connects the cycling track Ostrava-Beskydy with Slezska housing estate and sports area in Stare Mesto, along the right bank of the Ostravice river and behind the confluence along the right bank of Moravka river, with a footbridge to Stare Mesto. The total length is 2.2 km, it was built in 2001.
Cycling track behind the Frydek cemetery, 280 meters long goes around the collision point among the fences of a gardening colony. It was built in 2006.
At the end of 2008 was reconstructed the Olesna cycling track from the dam around the aquapark to Nad Prehradou street, 1040 meters long. Currently is prepared construction of a track around the dam lake. After the implementation there will be available for cyclists and skaters about 5 km circuit.
